The Keystone XL Pipeline – More Republican Hypocrisy

While the Rebuplicans have been having a grand time hammering Obama for not approving the Keystone XL Pipeline, they are conveniently ignoring an important fact. That it was Republicans, and a letter from Republican Governor of Nebraska Dave Heineman that were crucial in Obamas decision. The letter from heineman can be found HERE.

One of the proud republican citizens who started this revolt was Nebraska rancher and landowner Randy Thompson http://standwithrandy.com/

You see- the foreign corporation transcanada that wants to build, and reap much of the profits from this pipeline, years before there was any approval for the pipeline, started threatening US landowners that they would use Emminent Domain to forcibly take their land.

Add to this that their proposed pipeline would go through one of the most sensitive areas in the US, the aquifer of which, in many of the places in Nebraska it would run through, is only a matter of feet deep. An Aquifer that supplies the water for cattle, corn, and other agricultural crops in eight midwestern states, the bread (and meat) basket of america, and fiercely republican territory. And the fact is- no matter how high-tech the pipeline is – it will eventually leak.

And of course, all along the proposed path- US landowners, often in conjunction with the Tea Party, have been fighting the threats of emminet domain seizure of their lands by a foreign corporation in court.

So, not surprisingly, the Republican “Leadership” was supporting not only a corporation, but a foreign corporation assault on the republican parties very support base. And when their plan is foiled by Obama- they blame him- just as I am sure they would have blamed Obama for the seizure of hard working Americans land by a foreign corporation had he approved it.

About drugsandotherthings

I am a criminal. Because I have used cannabis and psychedelics extensively. I have tried many other drugs, but never cared for the uppers, downers, or dissociatives. I love craft beer, and absinthe, but don't care much for alcohols effects- which quite frankly, are boring and dangerous. Science is my religion. I am in my 40's, and have travelled extensively. And often forced myself outside of my confort zone. I am employed, a respected member of my communtiy, an animal lover, an environmentalist, a political junkie, and the realities I have experienced continue to push me further to the left of the political spectrum.
