Socialist ? So be it…

Socialist. A word I see describing Obama, and the left, many, many times a day. And of course the link they try to pain is of Lenin, or (incorrectly) hitler.

Whether it is out of ignorance, or simply a desire for propaganda and fear mongering, there is a denial of the broader meaning of the term. Virtually every major country- from the UK, to Canada, Germany, Switzerland, etc, etc all have major, and long powerful parties more commonly referred to along the lines of social democrats. This has nothing to do with the totalitarian marxist/leninist idea of socialism, but of the idea that it is the PEOPLE, and not the CORPORATIONS that make a country great.

Rather ironic that are far right supreme court has decided to deem corporations as people…

One of the famous “social Democrats” was George Orwell, yes, the author of 1984 who warned us of what happens when the capitalists put corporations first- at the expense of the people.

so let’s look at this definition of the opposition definition provided by wikipedia:
” …seek rejuvenation of their nation where its individuals are united together as one people in national identity…seeks to purify the nation of foreign influences that are deemed to be causing degeneration of the nation or of not fitting into the national culture….. have commonly presented themselves as politically syncretic—opposing firm association with any section of the left-right spectrum and being critical of the left, right, and centre. However, it’s goal to promote the rule of people deemed innately superior while seeking to purge society of people deemed innately inferior is a prominent far-right stance.

It promotes political violence and war, as forms of direct action that create national regeneration, spirit and vitality. They commonly utilize paramilitary organizations for violence against opponents or to overthrow a political system. It opposes multiple ideologies: conservatism, liberalism, and two major forms of socialism—communism and social democracy. It claims to represent a synthesis of cohesive ideas previously divided between traditional political ideologies. To achieve its goals, the …. state purges forces, ideas, people, and systems deemed to be the cause of decadence and degeneration. “

Sound’s familiar, doesen’t it? Though wait? we ARE describing the far right, the tea-party, and the GOP’s pandering to them? So what party are we talking about here? Oh yes- the facists. The Nazis. Sounds awfully like the first 8 years of the new millenium, followed by our new reich, I mean right since that n*****, erm-  Obama was elected

So yes- call me a socialist if you must. Or even a communist- the root being community. I will accept your ignorance. And will, regardless of the insults, believe that it is people, and not corporations, that have made america great.

About drugsandotherthings

I am a criminal. Because I have used cannabis and psychedelics extensively. I have tried many other drugs, but never cared for the uppers, downers, or dissociatives. I love craft beer, and absinthe, but don't care much for alcohols effects- which quite frankly, are boring and dangerous. Science is my religion. I am in my 40's, and have travelled extensively. And often forced myself outside of my confort zone. I am employed, a respected member of my communtiy, an animal lover, an environmentalist, a political junkie, and the realities I have experienced continue to push me further to the left of the political spectrum.

One Response to Socialist ? So be it…

  1. walthe310 says:

    I am not a Marxist.
    Barack is not one too.
Call us socialists if you will
    Labels do not matter
    To those who care
Or to those who care to think.
To a good Christian or Muslim
    Charity is a necessity.
Fairness, not charity, is what we seek
Putting the needy before the greedy
Is our program and our creed
    Doing right for the many
Not right for the Right few
It is time to put our differences
To the side and be done
The Founding Fathers gave us more than they received
Let us emulate their vision and their wisdom
We can/must advance the cause of freedom and equality
    Both here and abroad
    Let us lead by example
    Not by force and bluster
We can make the US number one again
In the hearts of all mankind.
