Science…or Faith

Personally, my faith is in science. Observation and study. Logic. Critical thinking. Evidence. Reproduceable results…

But as we all (should) know, american schools are failing miserably when it comes to science- with the US having ranked in the lowest half to lower 1/3rd of countries in the world when it comes to science. Maybe not surprising when we see numerous republican led states pushing “creationism” in science classes in our schools, when conservative groups such as The Heartland Institute were hatching plans to teach kids that there is no evidence of global warming, the same group that worked with the tobacco companies to claim there was no science to back up tobaccos health risks…

We are seeing a rise in an america that lives by, and legislates by faith rather then science. Where people accept things based on what fits their preconceptions. Where stories become truth without even the most basic of fact checking. Where flawed logic goes unchallenged, or those that to challenge lies and faulty logic are dismissed as heretics. And to be clear-while I am marginally speaking of religious faith, I am also talking of the larger sense- of belief, in whatever subject, without facts or evidence.

America is moving backwards, regressing. These are not the concepts our nation was founded on, nor is it what made america great.

About drugsandotherthings

I am a criminal. Because I have used cannabis and psychedelics extensively. I have tried many other drugs, but never cared for the uppers, downers, or dissociatives. I love craft beer, and absinthe, but don't care much for alcohols effects- which quite frankly, are boring and dangerous. Science is my religion. I am in my 40's, and have travelled extensively. And often forced myself outside of my confort zone. I am employed, a respected member of my communtiy, an animal lover, an environmentalist, a political junkie, and the realities I have experienced continue to push me further to the left of the political spectrum.
