THIS Explains alot! 46% of Americans believe in creationism

(poll info here )

Simply stunning. Simply depressing.  Forty-Six Percent , yes 46% of Americans believe “god” created mankind, in their present form, within the last 10,000 years. Despite the myriad scientific evidence to the contrary.

Is it any wonder america ranks in the lowest 1/3 for Science in developed countries?

And ultimately- this helps explains Americas downfall. People believe what they want to believe. They stick to these beliefs regardless of the evidence and facts. So it’s no great leap to understand why so many americans believe Iraq was behind 9/11, had WMD’s, That Obama is a muslim and was born in Indonesia. That republicans are the party of freedom. That all those lost jobs will magicly come back if republicans are in control, that being gay is a choice and can be “cured”, that Fox, WND, Breitbart etc are the only ones telling the “truth”…

We are doomed….the question is increasingly where to emigrate. (preferably somewhare that won’t suffer from republican, or “god” forbid- tea party foreign policy…

About drugsandotherthings

I am a criminal. Because I have used cannabis and psychedelics extensively. I have tried many other drugs, but never cared for the uppers, downers, or dissociatives. I love craft beer, and absinthe, but don't care much for alcohols effects- which quite frankly, are boring and dangerous. Science is my religion. I am in my 40's, and have travelled extensively. And often forced myself outside of my confort zone. I am employed, a respected member of my communtiy, an animal lover, an environmentalist, a political junkie, and the realities I have experienced continue to push me further to the left of the political spectrum.

A friend is considering Costa Rico. We like to believe we’re a leading nation, but sometimes one has to question our standards.

  2. Seriously, I’d love to flee away from the insanity. Unfortunately it’s a small world and everyone is crazy.

I am a pro-choice atheist, who favors legalization of drugs. Cognitive dissonance occurs in everyone. Some are just less able to shift than others. There is no difference between the examples listed in the article and people who believe that the current economic downturn is Bush’s fault, that oil company greed is the main reason for gas price increases, that unions and taxes don’t have anything to do with companies shipping jobs overseas, that Fox News is somehow more right-wing than CNN or CBS are left-wing. All of these are proven wrong by evidence, but the weak-minded consider them to be true.
