The Rights War on Climate Change Scientists

Popular Science magazine has an eye opening, and disturbing, article on the rights war on climate scientists. From harrasment to death threats they are waging a war which they know they can’t win on the scientific front. Anthrax scares, with packages of white powder mailed to prominent scientisits, paid hecklers at speeches, death threats against scientists children and families, vandalism, threats of rape, personal smears, frivilous lawsuits, the list, sadly, goes on.

And one of the core instigators is former Tobacco company advocate and now a Fox “news” commentator and purveyor of the ironically named “Junk Science” website. Which of course receives funding from the right wing oil billionaires the Kock Brothers.

The Koch Brothers, who last year had the brilliant idea to fund one of the very few prominent scientists who was skeptical of climate change, Richard Muller to debunk climate change. But of course- after 2 years of exhaustive review- Muller and his team came to the conclusion that climate change was not only real, but manmade.

So of course the Koch brothers, and the conservative Heartland institute decided to go for a series of billboards branding climate change believers as terrorists. Which caused an instant uproar- not only from the left but from the right- costing them numerous funders.

And americans overwhelmingly believe in climate change- not just because of the science- but because they are seeing the effects in their daily lives. Recent polls put upwards of 83% of americans believing in climate change, and that steps need to be taken.

But of course- those on the far right will contine waging a dirty war in a campaign they can not win on legitimate fronts.

About drugsandotherthings

I am a criminal. Because I have used cannabis and psychedelics extensively. I have tried many other drugs, but never cared for the uppers, downers, or dissociatives. I love craft beer, and absinthe, but don't care much for alcohols effects- which quite frankly, are boring and dangerous. Science is my religion. I am in my 40's, and have travelled extensively. And often forced myself outside of my confort zone. I am employed, a respected member of my communtiy, an animal lover, an environmentalist, a political junkie, and the realities I have experienced continue to push me further to the left of the political spectrum.
