The Rise of Extremism

The first things that struck me from this graph was the unsurprising rise in hate groups after 9/11, but especially the stunning rise in so called “patriot groups” coinciding with the election of a black man. Skyrocketing before Obama had done much more then end the fall off the cliff the american economy was expierencing.

And odd- because so many of these same people now condemn Bush on many issues. But the truth is not only did they remain largely quit for those 8 hellish years- many of them voted for him…twice.

Reminds me of the (supposedly) old Chines proverb: “May you live in interesting times”

Lesser known perhaps are the other two proverbs in the series:

“May you come to the attention of the authority” and “May your wishes be granted”.

About drugsandotherthings

I am a criminal. Because I have used cannabis and psychedelics extensively. I have tried many other drugs, but never cared for the uppers, downers, or dissociatives. I love craft beer, and absinthe, but don't care much for alcohols effects- which quite frankly, are boring and dangerous. Science is my religion. I am in my 40's, and have travelled extensively. And often forced myself outside of my confort zone. I am employed, a respected member of my communtiy, an animal lover, an environmentalist, a political junkie, and the realities I have experienced continue to push me further to the left of the political spectrum.

Reblogged this on The Last Of The Millenniums and commented:
I was called a ‘traitor’ by several local ‘patriots’ because I voted for Obama over McCain.

  2. John Liming says:

If you take the time to get into “Wikipedia” online and look under the general heading, “Patriots,” you will soon discover who the real traitors are and it certainly is not you because you voted your choice.
