Right Wing Lie of the Week (and yes, it started with Glen Beck)

So this past week both Glen Becks “the Blaze” and Rubert Murdochs tabloid “The New York Post” have been promoting a story that the Democratic National Committee will be hosting a 2 hr long Muslim prayer session at the DNC while having denied a Catholic Bishops request to bless the DNC ceremony.

And this is being repeated as “fact” across facebook, twitter, blogs, and right wing news sites.

So…shall we look at the actual facts?

New Yorks Catholic Archbishop, Timothy Dolan, will indeed be leading the DNC’s benediction. And the muslim prayer service? It is an independent service, led by a group known as BIMA (Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs), who are offering the prayer service offsite in Charlotte. It has no connection whatsoever to the DNC. It has not been promoted, sponsored, endorsed, or supported by the Democrats or the DNC, and was being promoted via the non-partisan site set up by the city of Charlotte to allow community groups to promote their events coinciding with th DNC. They are nothing more then one of hundreds, if not thousands of groups offering events in Charlotte coinciding with the DNC.

But of course, this is just more “proof” Obama is anti christian and pro-muslim. And sadly, the idiots that believe, or even worse- promote without believing this nonsense are allowed to vote, and in the latter case- pour millions of dollars into the election.

About drugsandotherthings

I am a criminal. Because I have used cannabis and psychedelics extensively. I have tried many other drugs, but never cared for the uppers, downers, or dissociatives. I love craft beer, and absinthe, but don't care much for alcohols effects- which quite frankly, are boring and dangerous. Science is my religion. I am in my 40's, and have travelled extensively. And often forced myself outside of my confort zone. I am employed, a respected member of my communtiy, an animal lover, an environmentalist, a political junkie, and the realities I have experienced continue to push me further to the left of the political spectrum.
