The red of course, being the GOP, and the right, and the Yellow being, well, yellow journalism.
As I was reading through the myriad of the rights sites (that dare to call themselves news and journalists) today I was struck by a memory of a term I had’nt heard in at least a decade. Yellow Journalism.
From articles insisting the DOJ taking on the whistleblower case against Gallup for massive fraud in contracts with government organizations being based on Gallup not giving Obama good numbers, to claims that an unnamed ex “general” siting “unnamed” “High level” sources saying Obama did not give the order to kill Bin Laden. to yet more birtherism, to the WSJ, FOX, and others continuing to fail to identify Romney officials (or those those that run his super pacs) as such, to the false claims being made about early voting in Ohio, to… well, you get the picture.
And I’m afraid it is worse then yellow journalism. It is flat out propaganda. Refusing to deal with facts. Willingness to lie. All to shape a narrative not just for profit- but to alter the very fabric of our society and our government. (which I suppose may be the ultimate, long term view way of profitting).
And when you look at the numbers- the number of Americans who get their “news”, the “information”, their worldview outside of their little bubbles…from sources such as Fox, Beck, Breitbart, the washington times, etc…it is truly disturbing…
