One of the (many) failings of the “Citizens United” decision. The super rich were never prohibited from putting unlimited money into elections. They were always free to create and buy their own ads. BUT- they would have had to put their name(s) on it.
But despite the majority opinion in (cu) clearly stating that ALL donations should be a matter of public record, we have seen numerous loopholes and legally questionable tricks used to hide the source of the money. Clearly, far, more by the right.
So why do people spends millions, even tens of millions to buy (ahem “influence”) an election yet are so afraid of having their role known?
