Alabama – “Bitter clingers to guns and religion”

Ah yes. The great hellhole, erm…state…of Alabama.

They’ve elected Judge Moore- yes the one who defied federal law demanding to hang the “10 Commandments” in the courthouse, to the state supreme court.

Whose newspapers are decrying the wins of everything from marijuana to gay marriage in other states this election.

Alabama- who went over 60% for Romney.

Alabama- who threatened international poll watchers who where here in no official capacity but to learn what a “Free and fair” election looks like.

Whose states takes in far more federal money then they pay in.

Alabama- who elected a loanshark, ummm…check cashing business owner to congress.

Alabama- a state with some of the most draconian drug laws remaining in america.

Who overwhelmingly voted republican in every office- voting for a (very)  few democrats and independents who if you look at their records, such as they are, are slightly left of the nazi party which makes them liberals in Alabama.

A state where homebrewing of beer remains illegal. And where in the past month or so armed agents of the state raided a homebrew shop, seizing their merchandise. (Hop city craft beer and wine in Birmingham).  Dear god- not the evil homebrewers. They must be eradicated.

As someone who has traveled this great nation of ours intensively- I am tired of the south. The racism. The hate. The intolerance. The use of “jesus” or “god” to defend their narrow minded views. And I am sick of their long standing republican government- and its policies that have miserably failed its citizens. With one of the highest rates of unemployment. Government assistance. Lowest rates of education.  Of social mobility.

And yes. These are the people who voted against Obama and for Romney. Which should, if you have a brain, tell you something.

About drugsandotherthings

I am a criminal. Because I have used cannabis and psychedelics extensively. I have tried many other drugs, but never cared for the uppers, downers, or dissociatives. I love craft beer, and absinthe, but don't care much for alcohols effects- which quite frankly, are boring and dangerous. Science is my religion. I am in my 40's, and have travelled extensively. And often forced myself outside of my confort zone. I am employed, a respected member of my communtiy, an animal lover, an environmentalist, a political junkie, and the realities I have experienced continue to push me further to the left of the political spectrum.
