Federal Judge Orders Tobacco Companies to Advertize That They Lied

US District Judge Gladys Kessler has ordered american tobacco companies to publish corrective statements admitting they lied about the dangers of tobacco and manipulated tobacco and cigarettes to increase addiction.

Among the statements required- Tobacco kills more americans thab murder, suicide, drugs and alcohol, AIDS, and car crashes combined. Phew.

The ruling is part of the 13 year old RICO case brought against the tobacco companies.

Hurray. Another nail in the coffin of a product sometimes called coffin nails. Full disclosure- I am a smoker. I roll ny own from natural, additive free tobacco. And it is still the most addictive substance I have ever encountered. 2nd only to sugars- particularly high fructose corn syrup. Far more addictive then crack cocaine. Heroin. Methamphetamine. The most addictive substance known to mankind- and one they still felt the need to manipulate to make even more addictive.

The ruling can be read here . The AP report can be read at the washington post here .

Now, let’s see if the courts or the FDA can resurrect the european style graphic warning labels on cigarettte packs that are proposed– but being fought…

About drugsandotherthings

I am a criminal. Because I have used cannabis and psychedelics extensively. I have tried many other drugs, but never cared for the uppers, downers, or dissociatives. I love craft beer, and absinthe, but don't care much for alcohols effects- which quite frankly, are boring and dangerous. Science is my religion. I am in my 40's, and have travelled extensively. And often forced myself outside of my confort zone. I am employed, a respected member of my communtiy, an animal lover, an environmentalist, a political junkie, and the realities I have experienced continue to push me further to the left of the political spectrum.
