Today Renesys (A commercial research company that monitors internet traffic) reported that all 84 of the IP blocks in Syria had suddenly dropped off the grid.
Some reports initially pegged this to heavy fighting. I have heard at least one report that the Syrian government blamed it on rebels severing the main fiber optic line.
but there have also been reports from some of the tech companies monitoring things that some networks- specifically the syrian governments, are still online.
Which, along with the government closing Damascus international airport, and reports that cellphones are being jammed in large swaths of the country is leading many to fear the Syrian government is planning a major offensive.
We shall see. At least some are still able to communicate to the outside world via sattelite links.
