Yesterday, quietly and without comment, the Supreme Court dealt a serious blow to perceived gun rights.
They refused to hear a challenge from gun rights advocates in New York over the states highly restrictive concealed carry laws. And let stand the federal appeals court ruling in the case upholding the state law.
New York has one of the strictest concealed carry laws in the nation. Mandating that applicants show they have a “special need for protection”.
So, it would seem the Supreme Court was quietly saying that there is indeed no constiutional right to carry a firearm in public, but was unwilling to make a loud statement on the matter at this time.
