Wow. Wingnut News Daily is reporting here , based on todays Fox “news”story here with all their normal moral outrage that the army is daring to require the removal of biblical verses hidden in the rifle scopes produced by american company Trijicom.
The problem (well, one of them) is that this story is three years old and the right-wing(nuts) at WND and Fox are reporting it as if it is something new.
Which just goes to show- an evil communist/socialist/atheist/drug-added freak like me can check facts, in a matter of seconds, better then the right wing nuts. Who apparently did not even bother to type a few words into google…
So, here’s the original article on march 03 2010 from ABC. A brief piece at Wikipedia here showing that many christian churches among others were outraged, and the company provided kits to remove the references to bible verses.
For those that were unfamiliar, or had forgotten about this (as I had) a little background. Trijicon, a company based in michigan, hid references to new testament bible verses at the end of serial numbers on rifle scopes supplied to the military.
John 8:2 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Second corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
there is something deeply disturbing in hiding references to bible verses on a device designed to aiding in killing fellow humans.
And to hiding christian bible verses in a country that is supposed to be based on religious freedom- and where are military is comprised of those representing every religion (As well as no religion).
But I find it even more disturbing that supposed “news” sources clearly don’t bother to do even a few seconds of fact checking…
